Positron fraction

Beautiful positron fraction plot from AMS. The guessing game begins: gradual or extreme dropoff?. Press release is here. PRL in two days. Positrons to at least  600 GeV.

Gone with the Limb

Two preprints cast doubt on the reality of the 130-GeV gamma-ray excess found by Fermi. Most likely the signature is connected to Earth limb photons (arXiv:1209.4548)  and (arXiv:1209.4562)

Independence Higgs

A Higgs has been found. Mass 125.3 +/- 0.6 Gev at 4.9 sigma, coming in at 0.8 +/- 0.2 SM.

We need to talk about keVins

Recent paper gets the price for best particle name since quarks (arXiv:1205.0551).  Remains to be seen if Warm Dark Matter "keVins" can save the day.

Fastest no longer

Rumors that the faster-than-light measurements by OPERA might have been flawed. There is a lesson here: if you are going to unravel physics be extra careful.
